The Zonta Club of Watkins Glen – Montour Falls offers the following educational and achievement awards:

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship

Each year, the club solicits applications from women enrolled in 2nd year or more of Ph.D./doctoral aerospace-related sciences or engineering programs, who have superior academic achievement. The club selects one, and sends it on to Zonta International. (Winning Application due to Zonta International by Nov 15.) Zonta International awards $10,000 US to 35 International Amelia Earhart winners, annually.

Jean M. Coon Award

The club solicits & accepts applications from High School juniors or seniors who perform community service. (Academic achievement is not relevant.) The club selects a semi-finalist whose application is forwarded to the District by April 1st; where she becomes eligible to win the $1000 district award.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

The club solicits applications from women who are 2nd Year College Students through last year Masters Students, who demonstrate an outstanding potential in business. The application comes out January 1st of each year, and is due to the club in May. The winning application is forwarded to district (Due July 1st.) The district reviews all applications submitted by their 20 clubs and selects one winner who receives $2000. The application of that one winner is then forwarded to Zonta International and is automatically in competition for one of (12) $8K International awards.

Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

August 1st each year, Zonta International releases the Young Women In Public Affairs application for the following year. The club solicits applications from females, age 16-19, who are committed to volunteerism, experienced in leadership, and who know & support the ZI mission, ideals, and programs. The club winner is forwarded to District 2 by April 1st, where the applicant has a 1 in 20 chance to win a $1500 district award. (The winner is announced in May.) From there, the district forwards the winning application to Zonta International by May 1st, where the applicant could win one of (10) $4000 awards. (Winners announced July 1st.)

Women in Technology

The club solicits applications from students and working women seeking to advance their technology knowledge and skill. Zonta International offers up to 32 scholarships of US$2,000 each at the district/region level and six international scholarships in the amount of US$8,000 each. In addition, the club bestows annual monetary awards funded by past member endowments, to assist local graduating high school senior girls.

BELLE CORNELL ZONTA AWARD

The Watkins Glen-Montour Falls Zonta Club presents a $250 award to a graduating senior who will enter school working toward a degree in a medical-related field.

FRANCES VanBILLIARD ZONTA AWARD

The Watkins Glen-Montour Falls Zonta Club presents a $250 award to a graduating senior who will enter college and major in business or a related field.
