The Syracuse Zonta Foundation Awards & Grants:

Amelia Earhart Scholarship

Established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship is awarded annually to women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering. She was also an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. This is also an award given by Zonta at an international level. Locally, this scholarship is given to a high school senior girl.

Edna B. Davis Music Scholarship

A bequest was left to the Syracuse ZONTA Foundation by Edna B. Davis to be awarded to a high school senior pursuing an education in the music field at an accredited college or university with financial need or extenuating circumstances.

Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award

High School Juniors/Seniors chosen for outstanding volunteer community service.

Women in Business Scholarship

Established in 1998 from a generous bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York and the 1990-1995 Zonta International Parliamentarian. The Scholarship is awarded annually to women pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees in business management. This is also an award given by Zonta at an international level. Awards available at the local, district and national levels.

Ursula Pettengill Scholarship

A bequest was left to the Syracuse ZONTA Foundation by Ursula Pettengill who was a trained and a practicing Dietician, Nutritionist, and an active ZONTIAN. In following the career and the commitment to ZONTA by Ursula, this scholarship is for a graduating high school girl pursuing a career in dietetics, nutrition or a related science.

Women in Transition Scholarship

College women who reside in Onondaga County; 6 credit minimum, to encourage mature women to continue their education and to improve their career opportunities. Selection is based on academic potential, with preference given to those who have other responsibilities while attending college.

Leadership Award

Established in 1990 by Past Zonta International President Leneen Forde, the Young Women in Public Affairs Award honors young women who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations.

Community Service Grant

Awarded to local not-for-profit agencies which serve the interests of women & girls.

Ursula Pettengill Community Project Grants

This grant supports a graduate student project in nutrition or a related subject at a recognized educational institution, or an organization filling a nutritional need for women in the community.
